Saša Stanišić wins Angelus 2023

The winner Angelus Central European Literature Award 2023 is Saša Stanišić, a German writer of Bosnian origin. He received the award for his novel Herkunft [Where You Come From], translated into Polish by Małgorzata Gralińska and published by Książkowe Klimaty. The verdict was announced by Martin Pollack, the chairman of the jury, during a gala organized on 14 October 2023.

The translation award went to Małgorzata Gralińska, translator of the wining novel, and the Natalya Gorbanevskaya readers’ award was presented to Tamara Duda, author of the book Доця [Daughter], translated into Polish by Marcin Gaczkowski and published by Kolegium Europy Wschodniej. The Ukrainian writer and activist will come to Wrocław for a 3-month residency.
