For the second time in the history of Angelus, the award went to an author from Poland. The jury decided the best book is the novel Pulverkopf by Edward Pasewicz (published by Wielka Litera). The translation award went to Daniel Warmuz (who translated from Hungarian the book A Sátán fattya [Satan’s Litter] by Zoltán Mihály Nagy), and the Czech author Jaroslav Rudiš (Winterbergs letzte Reise [Winterberg’s Last Journey], transl. into Polish by Małgorzata Gralińska, published by Książkowe Klimaty) won the readers, award and will come to Wrocław for a 3-month residency.
Edward Pasewicz is a poet, prose writer, playwright and composer. An author of over a dozen books – volumes of poetry, prose (including a crime fiction novel) and dramas. For his poetry, he was nominated many times to the most important literary awards, it was translated into 13 languages. Pulverkopf, for which he received the Angelus Award, was nominated to other important Polish literary awards, including Nike and Gdynia.
