Gala Literackiej Nagrody Europy Środkowej Angelus 2025

Darko Cvijetić wins Angelus 2025

The winner of the jubilee edition of Angelus Central European Literature Award is Darko Cvijetić, poet, prose writer, actor and director from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He received the award for his novel Shindlerov lift, translated into Polish by Dorota Jovanka Cirlić and published by Oficyna Literacka Noir sur Blanc. The verdict was announced by the chairman of the jury Andrei Khadanovich, during a gala organized on 18 October 2025.

The translation award went to Dorota Jovanka Cirlić, translator of the winning novel, and the Natalya Gorbanevskaya readers’ award was presented to Leelo Tungal, author of the book Samet ja saepuru ehk Seltsimees laps ja kirjatähed [Velvet and Sawdust or Comrade Child and Letters], translated into Polish by Marta Perlikiewicz and published by Wydawnictwo KEW. The Estonian writer is invited to Wrocław for a 3-month residency.
